Diet and Prostate Cancer
There is a great deal of epidemiological evidence suggesting that nutrition and the type of diet we eat plays a role in the development and spread of prostate cancer. Most experts also agree that changes in diet may help prevent prostate cancer. However, there is little proof of the relative benefits and risks of eating different amounts of specific foods, and no single factor is known to either cause or prevent the disease. More information on diet and prostate cancer will be provided by the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC), a major study that has been monitoring more than 130,000 men since 1993. The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test is widely available and is able to detect many prostate cancers in men who have no outward symptoms. There are benefits and risks associated with catching prostate cancer at an early stage, however, and men should consider these carefully before deciding whether or not to have the test.more

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers, affecting around 1 in every 10 men. It is a malignancy of the prostate gland, a walnut-sized structure that produces semen. The prostate is located near the bladder and rectum and surrounds the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder.more
