What is Zomig® ?
This medicine contains zolmitriptan, which is one of the more recent medications designed specifically for migraine. This family of medications, to which zolmitriptan belongs, are often referred to as ‘triptans’.

What is Zomig® used for?
Zomig is used to treat migraine.

How does Zomig® work?
  • Several changes in the brain that are involved in the development of migraine attacks have been identified.

  • Migraines are believed to result from nerve activity and swelling of the blood vessels in the brain.

  • Zomig acts at several of these sites that are thought to be involved in producing migraine symptoms, such as the blood vessels in the brain and the nerves involved in the signalling of the headache.

How is Zomig® given?
Zomig is supplied as standard tablets for swallowing or as fast-melt tablets which dissolve quickly on the tongue and therefore can be taken without drinking liquid.

Zomig is taken as soon as possible after the onset of the migraine attack.

It is also supplied as a nasal spray in some countries.
