Bricanyl (terbutaline)

Bricanyl (terbutaline) is a short-acting beta2-agonist, used as needed as reliever medication for the symptoms of asthma and to manage acute exacerbations.

Bricanyl can also be used for the treatment of chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other respiratory diseases where bronchospasm is a complicating factor, for example chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The following inhaled formulations are available: BricanylTurbuhaler,Bricanyl pMDI, and Bricanyl solution for nebulisation.

Oral formulations of Bricanyl are also available: Bricanyl tablets (plain and prolonged release), Bricanyl dispenser (prolonged release granules of terbutaline in a multidose dispenser for sprinkling onto a small amount of soft food), Bricanyl expectorant tablets and elixir (raspberry- or menthol-flavoured, sugar-free solution), and Bricanyl elixir (raspberry-flavoured, sugar-free solution).

Bricanyl solution for injection is also available.
